Meet The Artist
Jules Kesby is a New Zealand artist specialising in realistic wild animal paintings in oil. She is known for her captivating and intimate animal portraits, as well as her larger landscape pieces featuring wild animals in their natural environments.
Born in Zimbabwe, Jules grew up with the splendour and majesty of the African bush which shaped who she became as an adult. Jules’ place of birth ignited in her a lifelong passion for wildlife and a particular affinity for African animals.
"I started painting to see if I could achieve realism but it became far more about communicating emotions and feelings without clunky words. Telling stories through my paintings, but leaving enough mystery for the viewer to make it their own."
Jules has lived in New Zealand since 2001. She is represented by Art by the Sea in Auckland and Art by the River in Whanganui. Her sold and commissioned animal artwork appears in private collections nationally and internationally. Alongside her paper and canvas nature painting, Jules has created several wall murals and even an album cover.
